Austank's maintenance services are undertaken in accordance with AS1940-2004, other relevant codes, guidelines and to the customers specific requirements.

Inspections, Maintenance & Service for Steel Storage Tanks
We provide on-site visual inspections of tanks and fitted accessories and pricing for any required maintenance and/or repair works. The principle purpose of our service operations is to have the opportunity to assist tank owners with the maintenance (including any required repair works) of their steel liquid storage tanks and tank accessories. Also, we would be pleased to provide pricing for maintenance and repair works that are determined from your own inspections and maintenance management procedures.
As you will be aware, tanks storing flammable and combustible goods, are required, by the relevant authorities (e.g. WorkSafe) to be inspected, maintained and serviced in accordance with AS 1940-2004 and other relevant standards, codes and guidelines. Subject to various factors (tank type, use, location etc) these requirements include a number of visual and physical inspections and maintenance at a variety of time intervals (weekly, monthly, yearly, 10 years etc).
As determined from the visual site inspection and/or your advice, we would provide a quotation for any required maintenance and repair works for the steel tanks, accessories and other associated equipment as per your directions.
Generally, visual inspections will include checking for:
- Leaks, condition deterioration (rust etc) and general condition for the external tank surface, pipe work, accessory equipment, valves, vents, fittings and appurtenances.
- Deformation, tilting and operation of tank shell.
- General condition, accuracy and adequacy of equipment protection, tank access equipment, signage, markings, alarms, level controls, shutdown mechanisms, level indicators and dipsticks.
- Internal fluid storage for evidence of water and/or other contaminates (involves some ‘physical’ input that the customer may prefer to provide).
- For self-bunded tanks, interstitial space for moisture (involves some ‘physical’ input that the customer may prefer to provide).
- External foundations and tank supports for erosion, settlement and structural deterioration.
- Cathodic protection (if fitted and visible) for general condition.
- Other items (as determined on site and/or by customer) for general condition.
